Wingboy
Five wing bars across Sydney, a menu that changes every week, and a WordPress site that took 27 seconds to load. We rebuilt it on SvelteKit and CloudCannon, with every page built in advance, so it loads in 0.7 seconds. Since launch, the Wingboy team has made seven in ten of all changes to it.

Twenty-seven seconds is long enough to order somewhere else.
Wingboy sells chicken wings, tenders and corn ribs with thirteen sauces it makes itself every day. Most customers come to the site on a phone, hungry, looking for the nearest venue and the menu. The WordPress site took 27 seconds to load. Menus changed weekly, new venues were opening, and every edit went through a developer. Wingboy asked for a site that loads before hungry customers give up, and that the team can run themselves.
Pages built in advance, then handed to the team.
The SvelteKit site is pre-rendered: every page is built ahead of time and served as a plain file, so a visitor gets a finished page in 0.7 seconds instead of waiting on WordPress. Fifteen pages and four menus are kept as building blocks in CloudCannon, the editor the team uses. The team adds a venue, swaps a special or changes the ordering link with a live preview and no code. Between them, the menus hold nearly 180 items across food and drinks.
Each venue takes bookings through OpenTable, online orders pass to their ordering partner, and enquiries, event requests and job applications come in through forms on the site. The design came from Wingboy's brand studio. We built it so every page keeps the design's energy and still loads quickly.
Stop the Cluck, a game for free wings.
The site includes a small game: a stopwatch you have to stop at exactly five seconds, played in-store for free wings. It runs entirely on the visitor's phone or computer, is a tiny download, and gives people a reason to come back to the site between visits to a venue.

Three venues then, five now.
Wingboy opened in late 2021 and had three Sydney venues when the site launched: Newtown, Darling Square and Randwick. Parramatta followed in 2024 and Penrith in 2025, each added to the site by the Wingboy team, not by us. Since launch, they have made seven in ten of all changes to the site, more than 300 edits, without needing a developer. As of September 2026, the site still runs on what we built. Chrome's data from real visitors on phones shows the largest part of the page appearing in 1.2 seconds.
No lock-in.
Everything is in Wingboy's own accounts: the code, the CloudCannon site and the hosting. The pages are built in advance, so there is no server software to keep updated and nothing that needs us.
