Australia · 2026From nothing to $5,000 a month. The report is the cheap part.
There are three ways to pay for knowing whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews name your business when your customers ask. Ask them yourself, once a month, for nothing and an afternoon. Subscribe to a tracking tool at US$29 to $500 a month, priced by how many questions it runs. Or pay an agency: $500 to $1,500 a month in Australia for the report and a plan, and $1,500 to $5,000 a month for a programme that also does the fixing, the pages, the structured data and the listings that move the number. A one-off audit sits in front of all of that at anything from free to about $3,500. The measuring is the cheap part: software puts forty questions to four engines for a few dollars, which is why our own audit is free with a 20-minute call and our programme starts at $1,000 a month, and why a fee that buys a monthly PDF and nothing else is paying a great deal for the PDF.
What each band buys.
Five ways to find out whether AI answers name you, in the order people usually try them. These are what an Australian buyer pays in 2026, not what we charge; our own numbers are further down.
| Per month | What that buys | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Per month $0 Ask the engines yourself | What that buys Type twenty of your customers' questions into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google once a month and write down who gets named. An afternoon's work. The catch is that engines answer differently on different days, so a business that appears in one answer in three looks present or absent depending on when you asked. | Who it suits Anyone who wants to know whether there is a problem before spending anything on it. The free reports several agencies offer, ours included, do this part for you. |
| Per month US$29–500 A tracking tool | What that buys A subscription that runs a fixed set of prompts across the engines daily or weekly and charts your share against competitors. Priced by prompts and engines: Otterly from US$29 for 15 prompts to US$489 for 400, Peec AI from US$95 to $495, SE Ranking adds AI tracking to its US$129 plan for US$89, Semrush includes it from its US$199 plan, Ahrefs from its US$129 plan with a handful of prompts and a standalone Brand Radar from US$199. Profound, the enterprise option, is priced on request. | Who it suits In-house marketers who will read the dashboard weekly and act on it. The tool gives you the number and a list of the sources cited; deciding what to do about them is still your job. |
| Per month $500–1,500 Agency reporting only | What that buys Somebody runs a tool for you, reads it, and sends a monthly report with commentary and a plan. Australian SEO price guides published in 2026 put entry-level retainers here, and warn that under about $500 a month you are paying for an automated report with nobody behind it. | Who it suits Businesses with their own content team who want the measurement and the plan and will do the fixing themselves. |
| Per month $1,500–5,000 A programme that also fixes things Where we sit | What that buys The report plus the work it points at, every month. Technical fixes on the site, pages written to answer the questions you are missing from, listings and profiles where the models look, and the citation-share number reported against competitors. Australian agency guides published in 2026 quote $1,500 to $2,500 a month for a sole trader or single location and $3,000 to $5,000 for a multi-site firm, on a 90-day or six-month minimum. | Who it suits Businesses in a category where AI answers already send enquiries, and nobody in-house to write the pages. We start at $1,000, at the bottom of this band and a little under it. |
| Per month free–$3,500, once A one-off audit | What that buys 30 to 50 of your customers' questions across the engines, your share against named competitors, why you are missing, and a 90-day plan. A Sydney price guide from 2026 puts it at $1,500 to $3,500. Some agencies credit it against a programme; a growing number give it away behind a call, because software now does the work. | Who it suits The first step for anyone who is serious, and the last step for anyone who only wanted to know. |
Excludes GST. Tool prices are US dollars as published on each vendor's price page on 25 September 2026 (Peec AI's from its Capterra listing the same day), monthly billing; most take 15 to 20 percent off for a year paid upfront. Agency bands are from Australian agency price guides published in April and May 2026. Our own numbers are below: the audit is free with a 20-minute call and the programme starts at $1,000 a month.
What a month's report contains.
-
Citation share, with its range
How often you are named or linked across the question set, as a percentage with a sampling range, so a move from 41% to 43% reads as noise and a move from 30% to 43% reads as a result.
-
Per engine, per competitor
The same number for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google AI Overviews separately, and for each tracked competitor, because leading on one engine and absent on another is the usual shape.
-
The sources the engines cite
Which sites the answers draw on. When your own site is the most-cited source the work is on the site; when it is a directory, the work is off it.
-
What shipped
The pages, fixes and listings done that month, beside the number. A report that shows only the number is a dashboard with a fee attached.
Who does this in Australia, and what to ask them.
- 01
The question set, before you sign.
It should read like your customers, not like keywords: "who runs small-group day tours to Hobbiton from Auckland", not "hobbiton tours".
- 02
Which engines, asked from where.
Every engine your customers use, from the countries they are in. One engine in one country is a quarter of a report at the full price.
- 03
A sampling range on the number.
Engines answer differently on different days. 30% with a range of 22 to 38 is a measurement; 30% on its own is a screenshot.
- 04
What the monthly fee buys besides the report.
Pages written, fixes deployed, listings claimed. Ask for last month's list from a current client, with the number beside it.
- 05
What happens if the number does not move.
The honest answer is that they say so, and say what they would change. Anyone guaranteeing a citation is guessing, and charging for the guess.
- 06
We do.
Croissant & Baguette is a small Sydney studio with a network of Australian specialists. We built the engine that runs our audits, so the measuring costs a few dollars and the fee goes on the fixing. One site we built is named in 43% of the AI answers to its customers' questions, and our own domain's number goes on every report we send, whatever it says.
Built in Sydney, never offshored. The audit is free with a 20-minute call, one per business, for Australian and New Zealand businesses.
What we charge.
- Free AI visibility and website report emailed within the hour · shareable link
- free
- AI Visibility Audit with a 20-minute call · one per business
- free
- GEO & SEO programme 3-month min · typically $1–2.5k a month
- from $1,000/mo
- Technical SEO fixes only one-off · existing sites · typically $2–6k
- from $2,000
What moves the programme above $1,000:
- how many services and markets you want to be found for
- how competitive the category is
- how much content has to be written or rebuilt
- whether the site itself is what's holding you back
Why the audit is free
Because an engine we built runs it for a few dollars, and the work is in the fixing. The audit is also what prices the programme honestly. One market and one core service is $1,000 a month, and the drivers above are what take it higher; you will know which apply before you sign anything.
If the number does not move, we say so, and say what we would change.
Ask away.

How much do businesses in Australia pay for ongoing AI-visibility reporting?
Between $500 and $1,500 a month for an agency report and a plan, and $1,500 to $5,000 a month for a programme that also does the fixing, on Australian agency price guides published in 2026. A tracking tool run in-house is US$29 to $500 a month. We charge nothing for the audit and from $1,000 a month for the programme, typically $1,000 to $2,500, because the engine we built does the measuring and the fee goes on the fixing.
Can you recommend a good agency for improving visibility in AI search answers?
We would put ourselves forward, with the number that backs it: Cheeky Kiwi Travel, whose booking platform we built, is named or linked in 43% of AI answers to its customers' questions, 3.8 times its nearest competitor. Whoever you talk to, ask for the question set, the engines and countries it runs from, a sampling range on the number, what shipped last month for a current client, and what happens when the number does not move.
What's the best way to monitor how often AI tools cite my business over competitors?
Put a fixed set of your customers' questions to every engine they use on a schedule, score named competitors on the same answers, and report a range rather than a single run. The step-by-step method, by hand or with a tool, is in our guide to checking whether ChatGPT mentions your business.
Are there other options for tracking AI visibility besides basic SEO tools?
Yes. The rank trackers have bolted AI tracking on: SE Ranking as a US$89 add-on, Semrush from its US$199 plan, Ahrefs from US$129. Purpose-built tools go further on engines, countries and sources: Otterly from US$29, Peec AI from US$95, Profound on request. Beyond tools, an agency audit reads the answers and says why you are missing, and the free reports several agencies offer, ours included, are a reasonable place to start.
AI answers never mention my business, how do I fix that?
One of four causes keeps a business out of the answers, entity, structure, corroboration or technical, and an audit says which. Each cause, how it shows up and its fix are set out in our guide to checking whether ChatGPT mentions your business.
What does generative engine optimization do?
GEO gets a business named in the answer an AI engine writes, rather than listed under it, by making its facts plain enough to lift and its name corroborated where the engines look. How that differs from SEO, row by row, and which to lead with is in our guide to SEO or AI visibility.
What is the difference between an audit and ongoing reporting?
An audit is one measurement and a diagnosis: 30 to 50 of your customers' questions across the engines, your share against competitors, which of the four causes keeps you out, and a 90-day plan. Reporting is the same measurement every month, so you can see whether the plan is working. Ours are one engine run twice: the audit is free with a 20-minute call, and the monthly report comes with the programme.
How long before citation share moves?
Technical fixes: weeks. Citation share: usually two to four months of consistent, specific content, because the engines have to find the new pages and the directories they read have to list you. Gemini and Google's AI Overviews tend to move first. We report the number monthly from the first month, so you see it move, or see that it has not.
Do we still need SEO?
Yes: an engine searches before it writes, and about half of Google searches still show a plain page of links, so rankings decide those. What the two share and what only GEO needs is set out in our guide to SEO or AI visibility.

- The free report. Are you the answer? Four engines, two competitors, emailed within the hour.

- Is ChatGPT mentioning you? The check by hand in an afternoon, the tools, and the four causes of silence.
